Mano Verabathran

Mano Verabathran is the Deputy Secretary General (Telecommunications Infrastructure) at the Ministry of Communications Malaysia, bringing more than 30 years of experience in Malaysia’s Administrative and Diplomatic Service. Since joining the public service in 1995, he has held key leadership positions across several ministries, including Education, Women, Family and Community Development, Transport, and Communications, contributing significantly to public policy development, strategic planning, infrastructure advancement, and institutional capacity building.
He holds a Diploma in Public Management from INTAN, a Bachelor of Education (Hons.) in Teaching of English as a Second Language (TESL), and a Master of Science in Corporate Communications from Universiti Putra Malaysia. His career includes notable contributions to higher education financing, women’s empowerment programmes, leadership development for senior civil servants, and the development of Malaysia’s transport infrastructure.
At the international level, Mano has represented Malaysia in major regional and global forums including APEC, ASEAN, UNESCO, and BIMP-EAGA. He played an instrumental role in shaping the APEC Digital Economy Roadmap and the ASEAN Digital Master Plan 2025. In his current role, he leads the formulation of national telecommunications infrastructure policies that support Malaysia’s digital transformation agenda, economic growth, and national security objectives.
A recognized leader in public policy, strategic communications, and international cooperation, Mano is also an active contributor to leadership development, research, and public discourse. He currently serves as a Board Member of MyCreative Ventures and a Permanent Member of Malaysian Space Board, reflecting his continued commitment to advancing Malaysia’s digital, creative, and space sectors.
